The Parish Nurse: Bridging Faith and Health for Frail Elders

Explore the integration of faith and health in frail elderly individuals within a Christian congregation. Qualitative design includes taped interviews to uncover the influence of faith on health and vice versa, aided by Boykin & Schoenhofer's Caring Relationships theory. Discover the significance of intentional life-review, functional abilities assessment, and church affiliation review in this integration. Findings reveal the co-existence of faith and doubt, experiences of isolation, comparisons with peers, and the need for purpose and understanding. The integration facilitates self-affirmation and contributes to the integrity of the individual.
