“Why Grade A Executives Get an F as Parents,” observed that ‘children of successful executives are more likely to suffer a range of emotional and health problems than children of ‘less successful’ parents. For example, an Ann Arbor, Michigan study found that 36% of the children of executives undergo treatment for psychiatric or drug abuse each year versus 15% of nonexecutives in the same companies.

  • Define clear objective rules and consequences.
  • Say “No” firmly and enforce consistently.

  • Loving discipline and meaningful connections require time.
  • Set up Family Night/Date Night.
  • Find common interests and build on them.

The STRONGER your relationship with your children the more likely they will embrace your values and beliefs.
  • Connection and discipline look different in different stages with different children.
  • Teach them to fly and nudge them out of the nest.
