Student Branch-Section Interactions • St. Mary’s University (Ernest) • Met with branch officers and adviser; presented • Delivered funding checks and attended meetings • Trinity University (Ron) • Met with branch officers and adviser • Delivered funding checks • UT Austin (Nick) • Attended branch meetings and met with officers • Delivered funding check • UTSA (Scott) • Attended branch meetings; presented • Delivered funding checks • Texas State University • Provided starter funding • Section meeting site arranged

Student Branch Funding - Present • Currently – 2 phases, 2+ proposals • Phase I (maximum of $1,000 per branch) • Phase II ($4,000 total) • Proposals due August 15 & 22; September 30 • Awards at September 30; November 30 • Content of each proposal content • Past accomplishments • Plans for the future • Use of CTS support

Student Branch Funding - Future • Proposed – 2 phases, but 1+ proposal • Phase I (same maximum of $1,000 per branch) • Phase II (now $5,000 total) • Proposal due – written, August 15; oral, about August 30 • Decision by September 30 • Single award or two phased awards • Proposal content unchanged (but a single proposal) • Advantages • Consolidated annual planning by branch • Reduces effort by students and proposal reviewers • Fewer deadlines • Earlier total award • Fewer checks to write (if a single award is made)

Student Branch Liaison Plans • Increase interactions of Central Texas Section with branches • Encourage reporting of branch activities • During the year • At CTS spring planning meeting ($ incentive) • Develop plans for Student Professional Awareness Conferences (SPACs) • Region 5 support • Perhaps an SPAC for multiple branches

  7. Student Branch Liaison Issues and Challenges – “How-To’s” • Best support the branches • Stay informed of branch accomplishments and needs • Enhance section-branch communication • Support branch attendance at Region 5 Conference
