  2. Western Australia Police What is Operation NIMROD and Why? Targeting of recidivist serious traffic offenders and reckless drivers. Staffed by 1 x Sgt, 9 officers, including an Intelligence Officer. Leaner, highly directed workforce. Western Australia has about 1.8 million licensed drivers. At any time there are about 30 000 unlicensed/suspended drivers on the road or about 1.67% of drivers on the road. In 2014, 19% of Drivers involved in fatal and serious crashes has no valid licence. In 2014, Speed was a major contributing factor in 26% of fatal and serious crashes. State Traffic Operations

Registration number obtained. Several identification points established. Registered owner interviewed. Charged with 2 counts of Reckless Driving. Fined $1200 and 12 months license suspension for the first matter and $1400 and 15 months license suspension for the second. These incidents would normally be filed no action. Operational Plan and Media Plan • Consideration is given to activities occurring within the state. • Road Safety Commission formulate a communications plan linked to the Police media messaging. • Road Safety Commission consult with other Road Safety partners including Health, Education and Local Government to contribute to the particular Road Safety theme.
