The Abbeville Opera House -Built in 1908 -1970, added to National Register of Historic Places -Is currently on its 103rd Winter Season -Seats 334 -Has operated not only as a live theatre, but also as a movie theatre -Building shares space with the Abbeville County Municipal offices -Artistic/Executive Director, Michael Genevie

  4. My Experience • You Ought to be in Pictures • Light and Sound operator • The Foreigner • Asst Stage Manager • Klansmen Wrangler • Misc • Ushering and concessions • Box office work (tickets, phones, etc)

  5. Highlights • Working in the booth • New experience for me! • Being part of a stage management team • Getting to meet new people • Learning the ins and outs of running a theater

  6. Applicable Lander Knowledge • Stage management experience during one-acts • Run crew • Lighting and sound design (inasmuch as I had to work with it during Pictures) • Understanding of stage work

  7. Moving Forward • Theater management • Stage management and run crew • Box office • Appreciation for crew and theater staff • Practical hands-on experience

  8. Feedback • For theatre: separate from Mass Comm so that we can focus more sharply on theatre • Introduce another advanced acting class • Include more tech classes for those who wish to focus on that area (acting emphasis vs crew emphasis)
