  4. Genoa Herewe are Sarzana Florence We live in the province of La Spezia in the Liguria region, in the north west of Italy. We are on the border of Tuscany and Liguria, between Genoa and Florence

  5. La Spezia is one of the main Italian military and commercial ports and has one of Italy's biggest military industries THE GULF OF LA SPEZIA

  6. there is shipbuilding and it is a big navy base

  7. The Gulf has clean water so we are able to grow mussels

  8. sarzana The name of our town is Sarzana a pretty medieval town, many people visit it

  9. The Town council every year organizes many attractionsevery September an important Festival of the Mind which involves famous intellectuals.

  10. From the first century the town has had a strong Roman Catholic culture, Pope Nicolò V was born here

  11. “IL GENIO DELLA STIRPE” BY CARLO FONTANA It is also the birthplace of famous contemporary artists like Carlo Fontana

  20. We are near the sea, at the weekend we usually go to the seaside

  25. Behind us there are the Apuan Alps which protect us from cold north winds, so the climate is very pleasant, in fact the temperature is never too hot or too cold and we can usually spend a lot of time outside in every season

  27. Many famous statues were carved from this stone, for example Michelangelo’s David

  28. We eat very well, different vegetables, fruits and food are produced and are served on our tables

  29. Typical are special pancakes called “testaroli”, we eat them with “pesto” (a sauce made of basil erbs, pine nuts, parmesan cheese and olive oil).

  32. “FARINATA” is a crepe made with chickpea flour the kids like it almost as much as pizza

  33. “MESCHUA” is another main courses made of beans and cereals

  34. Special pasta“TORDELLI” ” filled with meat or ricotta cheese. We often eat fresh fish and seafood with or without pasta.

  35. “SPONGATA” is a cake usually eaten at Christmas time. It is made with dried fruits and spices.

  36. The good weather allows our children to do a lot of outdoor sport activities such as: “SAILING”

  38. The “FOOTBALL” is the most popular sport among boys

  39. This is the jung basket team

  40. Our town has a important team of hockey and many children start to play it “HOCKEY”

  41. We can swim in the see and in many swimming pool “SWIMMING”

  42. This is a Sarzana archery “ARCHERY”

  43. There are many tennis court in the town

  44. The roller skating is mostly for girls
