  2. Geographical Location • Cantilan is located in the northeastern part of Mindanao; bounded on the north by the Pacific Ocean; located on 9° 11’ - 9° 26’ latitudes and 125° 39’ - 126° 04’ longitudes. • Ayoke MPA will be reach in 45 min to 1 hr by boat. Para el MAR 2011

Management Practices • Governance • Management by Community/PO (MOA between LGU and PO) • Monthly meeting (PO) • Adopted Management Plan • Monthly coastal clean-up • 2,000.00 monthly incentives (PO) • 2 members responsible for the maintenance of marker post • Monthly due • Annual Budget for CFRM is 125,00.00 • Enforcement • Guardhouse and maintenance • 24/7 patrolling and guarding • MPA logistics (binoculars, life jackets, search lights,etc.) • Logbook of duty • 10 DFW members of NAGMAKAAYO • 4 members per group per duty (during night time whole family members participate) • Insurance • Established penalties (i.e. violating members are penalized by disqualifying them to be the member of the PO Para el MAR 2011

Benefits: • Easy to catch fish compared before (FGD) • Presence of scad is most observed in front of ayoke island (FGD) • Impacts: • Coral cover and fish abundance increases from 2004-2010, but decline in 2010. (fig. 1&2) by FISH Project • Increasing awareness building, institutionalization of the CRM Program in the LGU • Decrease in violations from 13 infringement in 2005 to 2 in 2010 (FGD & police blotters) • Awards / Grants: • Special Access Fund from Fish Project – Establishment of Guardhouse • Due to the good implementation from the previous project a Solar Panel Light was awarded to Ayoke Residents – (71 households) • Gill net from BFAR – Caraga Benefits /Impacts Para el MAR 2011
