  3. Workload and capacity • Increases in workload of up to 80% • Variation in methods used to quantify capacity • Develop national model • Consider impact of out-sourcing

  4. Clinical Guidelines • Rationalise range of treatments • Much variation in guidelines in different Networks • Variation in approach to non-NICE drugs in different Networks • Aim to reduce variation • National guidelines

  5. Chemotherapy benchmarking • Data generally difficult to collect • Impossible to determine how much spent on non-NICE approved indications • Financial planning difficult • Current IT systems inadequate

  6. Electronic Oncology Prescribing Systems • Several networks have EP • Many awaiting guidance on preferred provider • Essential features • Validated drug regime database • Treatment pathways • Audit trail • Compatibility with other systems

  7. Workforce development • No mention of pharmacy in WDC for Cancer! • Development of pharmacist’s role • Prescribing IV/SC chemotherapy • Prescribing oral chemotherapy eg Capecitabine clinics

  8. Future of the group • Find the missing pharmacists! • Aim to form a network of networks • Feed back to NDP
