  3. Chartered Accountant (CA) • 4 year University degree • 2 year practical experience • Meet courses in school of Accountancy, write UFE exam • Starting Salary $75,000 • Average Salary $194,000 • Able to perform A, B, C & D

  5. Certified General Accountant (CGA) • College diploma or University degree • Practical experience • Final CGA exam • Able to perform B, C & D • Average annual salary $94,290 (2011)

Accounting Clerks: • Normally work under a senior accountant computing, classifying & recording data to maintain business records • Minimum of Grade 12 with emphasis on business courses • Jobs include: bookkeeping, payroll, inventory, A/R, A/P, clerks, etc. • Average annual salary $38,330 (2010)

  8. A. Public Accounting: A public accountant makes himself available to the general public or to an individual business for a fee. This type of accounting is usually performed by _Charter Accountant__________. Services may include: • General Accounting, Auditing, tax services, management, advisory services

  9. C. GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTING: • All levels of government require the services of accountants to control, monitor, and record spending. A government accountant is hired as an employee of the Municipal, provincial, or federal governments to provide accounting services. This type of accounting is usually done by all designations, but more CA • Services include: Government Budgets, tax services, auditing, financial records

  10. B. PRIVATE ACCOUNTING: • A private accountant works for a specific firm or agency that is not a public accounting firm. This type of accounting is usually performed by CMA. Services include: General accounting, cost accounting, budgeting, income tax, designing manual & computerized accounting information system, production

  11. D. NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS: • Need accountants to help determine how well the organization is meeting financial objectives, allocating funds, preparing financial reports; advisory roles, etc. • Ie. United Way, Red Cross, Cancer Society
