  1. “OLD” CHURCHES I Thess. 1:3-8

  2. What Does It Take… • To be an “old” church. • “In all my travels, I’ve only visited with 3 churches that were over 100 years old.” • Where are the 7 churches of Revelation? And the ones of the epistles? • It takes strong leaders. Faithful saints. Dedication and sacrifice.

  3. The Church At Ephesus • Acts 18:19, 24 • Acts 19:1-7, 8-9 • A city (church) of exorcists and magicians. Home of Demetrius. • Paul labors there 3 years (20:31). • Timothy remains in Ephesus (I Tim. 1:3) • After 3 years, some still teach a “different” doctrine.

  4. Acts 20:17-38 • A strong warning. Paul loves them, and they love him. But danger exists. • We can’t live in paranoid fear, but we need to realize the danger. • Provisions for our safety are in the Book.

  5. Letter to the Ephesians • 2:11 – bring to remembrance • 3:6 – blessings unknown before • 4:1-3 • 6:10 • Book of Judges – another generation arose who didn’t “know” the Lord – 2:7, 10

  6. Ephesians in Revelation • 2:1-7 • A “sound” church. Still “pure” in doctrine. • “But” – they had left their first love. • They had “works”. They had “toiled”. • It’s so easy to take things for granted. In a marriage; in a job; in the church.

  7. A “Form” of Religion • W/o the power – 2 Tim. 3:5 • Who will be the elders? The deacons? • Do they have the selfless dedication? • Who will be servants? • Woman at Home Depot yesterday, showing me to the proper area, stopped and picked up a piece of trash. That wasn’t her “job”. • What’s your “job” for the Lord?
