  2. What Is a Root Canal? The treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or infected. The nerve and pulp of the tooth are removed and the inside is cleaned and sealed.

  3. What Are the Signs? Sharp pain when chewing or biting. Chipped or cracked and tooth sensitivity. Swollen or painful gums. Deep decay or darkened gums.

  4. Root Canal Procedure The x-ray is taken to see the infected area. Local anesthesia is given to freeze. Very small instruments are used. Crowns are placed by cementing onto the rebuilt tooth.

  5. Post Treatment Care Brush at least twice a day. Floss at least once a day. Wear a mouth guard to avoid sports-related injury. See your dentist regularly.
