  1. The I-O matrix from Leontief Wassily Leontief (1905 – 1999) Input-output (I-O) matrices have been created by Wassily Leontief, an american economist orginating from Russia and winner of the « Nobel prize » of economy in 1973. I-O matrices are built based on the relatively simple idea that goods and services produced by economic sectors should be registered in a table simultaneously by origine (production) and by destination (consumption). These tables are a representation of the economy that records the way industries both trade with one another (raw material and semi-finished products) and produce for final consumption and investments.(final products)
