  6. Ruth Ruth was the eldest of the three. She was like a caring mother. She took care of her brother, her sister, Jan and the children at the school she opened.

  7. Edek Edek was Ruth’s brother. He was like a tough adventurer because he stole food for his family everyday, but one night he was caught and taken to Posen, a place in Germany.

  8. Bronia Bronia was the youngest of the three. She must survive outside with her brother and sister without her parents since she was five years old.

  9. Jan Jan was an orphan. He was treated as the Balicki family. Ruth was also like his mother. He stayed with them since Ruth found him in front of the underground house.
