  2. What is a Conservancy? A conservancy is a registered voluntary association between land users/landowners who co-operatively wish to manage their natural resources in an environmentally friendly manner without necessarily changing the land-use of their properties Local examples: Cove Rock Tyolumnqa

  3. Status of natural resources on private land is improved by landowners being involved in a community manner in the conservation of their own resources

  4. Collective Representation of Diverse Interests • Agriculture • Ecotourism • Residential • Nature Reserves • Public Facilities

  5. Why Form a Conservancy? • Promote and integrate better stake-holder • relations • Prevent degradation and devaluation of land • Protection of environment • Promotion of ecotourism • Community upliftment projects • Increased land values
