  1. 1.Shadow on the Glass 2.Ian Irvine 3.??? 4.Penguin 5.1998 6.Karan Fyrn (Ka-Ran)(Firn) A red-haired (Red not orange pure red) girl with a huge adventurous side, is a ‘Sensitive’ giving her the ability to sense other peoples emotions and compulse them to do her bidding, however she rarely uses this ability, and cannot control it. She is an excellent climber, and very good at surviving. 7.Pender, a sailer who befriends Karan. Lilis, first met by Llian as a guide, about 9 years old. 8.The story is set in the past. It is hard to tell but about medieval. 9. In the world of Santhnar.

  2. Summary The story starts with Llian, a teller (our equal of a historian) telling his initiation tale to an audience. The tale is about the murder of a young girl and about the time of the Forbidding, a time were the walls that separate the worlds were brought crashing down by a man call Shunthadar. After the telling he his awarded by becoming a Master Teller, and while being swept away by the crowd of his supporters, he sees Karan, and she asks who killed her with a phycic message, before disappearing. When Karan returns home, she is encountered by an agent called Maigraith, and asked to help on a venture with her talents. Though refusing at first, Maigraith calls on a past dept, and Karan is forced to go. Upon arriving at their destination, they steal a magical object called the Mirror of Aachim. Maigraith is captured while buying time for Karan to escape, and Karan heads towards the meeting place with Maigraith’s master. When no one arrives, Karan heads to her former home Shazmak. Llian receives a strong mental tug from her, a combination of loneliness and fear fuelling it, Llian is tasked with bringing Karan to the great and ancient city of Thurkad. The story tells of the travels of Karan and Llian from the high peaks of Shazmak to the lowest harbour citys of Thurkad.

  3. Dream Weaver Llian, because you are told what Karan dreams about (plot spoiler). If anything Llian would dram about one of three things. • His old home Zile and his family. He misses them a lot. • His work, as his memories pour different texts and painting into his dreams. • Karan, throughout the book their relationship goes from companions, to friends to lovers.

  4. Character profile. Maigraith. Not the series favourite, but a memorable character and favourite in the book.. A. (taken from the description in the book) Middle height and slender, Silky chestnut hair, Oval face, blue eyes that seem to be hiding something, perfect besides a tense jaw and an look of constant unhappiness. Every movement deliberate and restrained. B. Is a constant traveler, the world is her home. C. Plot spoilers all around, but I will give you a clue, Her master is related to her. D. Karan, besides that is the loneliest person on the planet. E. If her master hates them she hates them, except for a select few. F. She lives to serve her master, has very few of either. G. Likes: Karan, knowledge of her heritage. Dislikes: Her life in general. H. As a friend yes, as an enemy definitely not. She is a master of the Secret Art, or Magic as a common term, is a well trained spy and combatant, and is unrelenting towards anything.

  5. Dear Diary. I choose Llian because he actually keeps a diary so he can turn it into a story, or tale. These entries are based on the hike to Shazmak and the time he read the Book of the Aachim. • We are currently hiking to Shazmak, one of the last known refuges of the fabled Aachim, who Karan is related to. I am still trying to see the mirror, but Karan said that I cannot, and after what she has done for me, I will not betray her trust. Karan says that I have mountain sickness, and it is getting worse every day. • We have arrived at Shazmak and I have found the most wonderful thing, a library with the histories of the Aachim in it. No one in hundreds of years has ever touched this kind of place, and those that have are honour bound to keep its secrets, or cannot read Aachim. I have settled in to reading and memorizing the Book of the Aachim, their entire history, so that I can write down and translate it.

  6. New front cover I would make the cover a picture of all the main characters, Because there is actually no pictures of them whatsoever, and I am curious to what they look like.

  7. Letter to the Author Dear Ian My name is Mitchell German, and I am a reader of your book, A Shadow on the Glass, and thinks it is magnificent. I would put it on the same level as The Lord of the Rings, and is one of the very few books I have re-read. My favourite Character is, in this book, Maigraith, because she is just appealing, a shadowy yet friendly enigma that turns out to be a (Plot spoiler). My main highlights are the meeting between Karan and Llian, The theft of the Mirror, The siege of (Plot Spoiler), the gathering of the council, and the escape from Shazmak. But your book could only be improved by one thing, shortening the time it takes for Llian and Karan to meet, that half the book. Besides this, this is an epic novel, and I would recommend it to any advanced readers with time to kill. From Mitchell. P.S You have done a wonderful job, being able to spread the same story of more than 5600 pages, or 2 series.

  8. 10 Questions Today I will interview… Yggur, the master of the mirror and warlord. He is the one who captured Maigraith. • Q. What is your drive to take over the world? A. The council of the planet betrayed me, and I will have vengeance. • Q. Do you consider this a bit extreme? A. No, they trapped a Charon in my head, and I suffered injuries beyond flesh and blood from that. • Q. Are you proud of your abilities as a Mancer. A. Yes, they have given me all I need to win the war. • Q. What is your relationship with Maigraith, you seem to treat her softer than anyone else…? A. What are you implying, we are aquantices, nothing more (eyes shifting, cheeks blushing). • Q. Are you lying? A. This interview only goes as long as you want it to. • Q. Okay , Who is your greatest enemy? A. Rulke, the Charon, the dominator of all Aachim, before coming to Santhnar. • Q. Why is this so? A. He is the Charon that the council sealed in me while they trapped him in the Nightland, the ultimate prison. • Q. What is your greatest fear? A. Rulke breaking out of the Nightland. • Q. Why? A. Because he captured an entire planet with only 100 Charon, he being the strongest. • Q. Who is your greatest friend? A. Most possibly Maigraith, she understands me, and shares a past of sadness as well.

  9. Place Presentation Shazmak, the city of the Aachim of Santhnar. Looks: Magnificent, an architects dream, made by the Aachim, the greatest artists of all time. Feels: Smooth, such is the magnificence of its creation, only when purposely made are there edges. Sounds: Built around a river and waterfall, you always hear a soft crashing echoing over the city. Smells: Pleasant and like water, being built around water and such.

  10. Character Collage Name: Rachis, An old friend of Karan, and her families steward. Friendly Old Loyal
