  3. Students of the Week Congratulations to the following students, who were chosen by the Social Studies Dept., as Students of the Week:

  4. In accordance with state law, Kenowa Hills Public Schools strives to provide a safe and nurturing environment for all of its students.  As a result bullying/aggressive behavior is not tolerated regardless of the subject matter or motivation.  Any student who believes she/he has been or is the victim of bullying/aggressive behavior should report the situation immediately to the Principal or Assistant Principal.  Further information/clarification of the district’s bullying/intimidation policy can be found on the district website under the link for “Board of Education”, or in the individual student handbooks.

  5. Advisory Question Leaders, with one week left, are: Brewster – 73% Hurt – 59% Koch – 50% Hotchkin – 50% Winning advisory class gets donuts.

  6. Congratulations to our Box Tops winners: Mrs. Prinz’s class came in first with an astounding 47 box tops per person. Mr. Koch’s class was second with 34 per student and Mrs. Lovett came in third with 11 per student. The first and second place winners will be receiving donuts this week.

  7. Thank you to all who contributed to the Soles-4-Soles competition. Mrs. Flint’s class won a free lunch. Congratulations and thank you!

  8. Attention all seniors: Senior Pictures are due November 1 to Mr. Bernard in room F 212. Pictures need to be vertical, head shots preferred, colored preferred. Pictures can be submitted in a sealed envelop or as a jpeg attachment to Mr. Bernard's email address. .

  9. ATTENTION KENOWA HILLS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND STAFF THERE WILL BE A SPECIAL DISTRICT WIDE TEE SHIRT SALE BY THE KENOWA HILLS SPIRIT SHOP!  ORDER FORMS ARE AVAILIBLE IN THE SPIRIT SHOP, AT THE OFFICE, OR AT THE KENOWA HILLS SPIRIT SHOP'S WEBSITE. .

  10. College Visitsfor Juniors and Seniors Please sign up in Student Services if interested. Only students with a 2.5 or higher GPA or counselor approval may sign up.

  12. Colleges/Scholarships If you are applying to any college, please use www.Parchment.com to send your transcript to that college. Coca Cola Scholarship – Deadline October 31, 2012 • US Citizens • Anticipating completion of high school diploma at time of application • Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited US post-secondary institution • Carrying a minimum 3.00 GPA at the end of junior year of HS Updated scholarship opportunities are updated weekly on the Student Services webpage. Extra forms and information are available in the Student Services Office. Deadlines are approaching quickly.

  13. MEA Scholarships: See Mr. Lazowski or Mr. Poelstra soon if you would like to apply for this scholarship and if you meet the criteria below: (Deadline is February 8, 2013.) Academic Achievement • School/Community Service • Extracurricular Activities • First consideration given to MEA members (child of MEA members) and students from lower income households http://www.mea.org/mea-scholarship Student Services will pick 10 finalists to submit to the Michigan Education Association.

  14. GR Griffins HS Symposium • Showcases 5 area colleges and exciting programs offered at each school. Followed by a Griffins game. • Hospitality and Tourism at Grand Valley • Automotive Marketing at Northwood University • Health Science at CMU • Sports Management at Aquinas College • Marketing/Advertising at WMU • Where – Van Andel Arena • When – Wed., November 7, 8:30 am – 2 pm • Cost - $10 a ticket – Bring Money for Concessions or see Mr. Poelstra by 11/01 if you are Free/Reduced Lunch and want a bag lunch. • Who – Only 10th – 12th grade students interested in the above programs • Limited seats available – sign up in the Student Services office by Thursday, Nov. 1

  16. KHHS Sports News Interested in Bowling for Kenowa Hills? Boys and Girls sign ups are now available in the Athletic Office. More information to follow.

KHHS Sports News Congratulations to the boys and girls cross country team on their performance at the Regional championships.  The boys finished 2nd in the meet and the girls finished 5th.  The 2nd place finish for the Knights earns them a place at the state finals this upcoming weekend.  The Knights were lead by Jeff Bajema with a first place finish.  Kevin Elliott crossed the line in 16th followed by Donavan Brazier in 17th,  Gabe Momber in 20th, and Luke Simonds in 25th.  The Knights will travel to Michigan International Speedway Saturday to compete against 29 of the top schools in the state.  Good luck Knights!

  18. KHHS Sports News Attention Wrestlers: There will be a wrestling sign-up informational meeting this Wednesday in room F-105 from, 2:45 – 3:15 Any questions see Coach Elliot or Coach VanValkenburg

  19. KHHS Sports News • The Girls’ District Volleyball first round game will be played at Mona Shores High School (note location change) tonight, at 7:00 p.m. against Mona Shores. All tickets are $5.00 and passes are not accepted.

  20. KHHS Sports News VARSITY HOCKEY TRYOUTS Monday, Oct 29 & Tuesday Oct 30 3:30 – 5:00 at the Walker Ice and Fitness Need physical after April 15 and turned into the Athletic Department by Monday
