  1. A SIMPLIFIED FORM OF THE TENETS OF THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH President Ebenezer Abebrese September 29, 2012

  2. Tenet • Things we most surely believe • Constitution forbids changing of the Tenets; anything else may be changed • Changing it will change our practices

  3. Tenet 1 The unity of the Godhead and the Trinity of the Persons therein. • There are Three Persons in the Godhead. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit have their various roles in the life of any converted soul. • It is not true that the Father changed to the Son, and the Son changed to the Holy Spirit. At Matt. 3:16,17, all the Persons of the Godhead are seen at work.

  4. Tenet 2 The utter depravity of human nature, the necessity for repentance and regeneration, and the eternal doom of the finally impenitent. • Humans needed a Saviour, because of the enslavement of Sin. Human nature is so helpless to seek salvation. • Repentance leads to regeneration. The Holy Spirit regenerates believers. Those who do not repent, will face the eternal doom that will come.

  5. Tenet 3 The virgin birth, sinless life, atoning death, triumphant resurrection, ascension and abiding intercession of our Lord Jesus Christ: his second coming and millennial reign upon earth. • This describes the life and mission of Jesus Christ. • He will come again to reign a thousand years with believers.

  6. Tenet 4 The justification and sanctification of the believer through the finished work of Christ. • The work Jesus accomplished, was final. It was not partial (John 19:30). By that we have been justified – that is cleared in the court of the Lord. Sanctification is the basis of our transformation

  7. Tenet 5 The baptism of the Holy Ghost for believers, with signs following. • The Holy Spirit baptizes the believer. The evidence of this baptism is speaking in tongues.

  8. Tenet 6 The nine gifts of the Holy Ghost for the edification, exhortation and comfort of the Church, which is the Body of Christ. • 1 Cor. 12:8-12 describes the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit. These gifts are to build us, encourage us and comfort us as believers.

  9. Tenet 7 The sacraments of baptism by immersion, and of the Lord’s Supper. • The Sacraments were ordained by the Lord. He instituted them and took part in them. These are Water baptism and Holy Communion Services.

  10. Tenet 8 The divine inspiration and authority of the Holy Scriptures. • God’s Word was inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Word is powerful. It can change situations, and so has Authority.

  11. Tenet 9 Church government by Apostles, Prophets, Evangelist, Pastors, Teachers, Elders and Deacons. • The Church is owned by Christ (Matt. 16:16-19) • But mortals govern it for Him, by His power. • The order outlined have to be respected, and God blesses you.

  12. Tenet 10 The possibility of falling from grace. • All believers are expected to be careful otherwise a fall comes.

  13. Tenet 11 The obligatory nature of tithes and offerings. • Tithes and offerings are needed to provide ‘food’ in God’s house. Faithful tithing and good managements leads to the support of the Lord’s work. • As you pay (bring the tithes) Mal. 3:8-12, God blesses you.
