GPLS Chrome Update • Printing rules • Changes in user names • Auto-login for OPACs • New hardware
Printing Rules • Discovered most Samsung devices were sent out on version 23. • Any device that is enrolled before reaching version 29 WILL NOT work with printing. • If you have a device on version 23, create a USB update disk and update your device to the latest version before attempting to enroll. • Try to enroll the printers you want before enrolling the devices.
Changes in user names • In the testing phase, usernames were based on IT or Directors name. • This continued for some of the first to setup their chrome environment. • New usernames will be issued in the following format: systemacronym.chrome@georgialibraries.org • Existing usernames will not be deleted and will remain active. You will not need to re-enroll any devices or printers. • Next time you enroll a device please begin using the new username.
Auto-login for OPACs • The auto-login feature for a public session was released mid-rollout. Some already know about and are using this feature. This is for those of you that are not. • In public session, you can now bypass the “click here to login” screen and go straight to desktop. I recommend this for all OPACs at this time. • Once set to auto-login, the idle sign out time can be reduced to ~5-15 minutes, ensuring you have a fresh OPAC for the next user. The device will sign out from idle and immediately sigh back in using auto-login.
