Objectives • Write and graph linear equations in slope-intercept form. • Model real-world data with equations in slope-intercept form.
Vocabulary! • Slope-Intercept Form: • An equation of the form y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. • Constant Function: • A linear function of the form y = b.
Constant Functions • *Except for the graph of y = 0, which lies on the x-axis, horizontal lines have a slope of 0. • *Constant functions do not cross the x-axis. Their domain is all real numbers, and their range is b. • *Vertical lines have no slope. So, equations of vertical lines cannot be written in slope-intercept form.
