  5. State Funding 2013/14 • Increase of $7.9 million • Certificated positions • Instructional Initiatives • Professional Development • State Funding on a Per Pupil Basis • $45 below 2008/2009 school year

Educational Programs & Operations Levy • 25% of the District’s annual operating revenue • Current tax burden is $1.32 per $1,000 of assessed value • Current levy expires in December 2014 • Funds • 1 out of 3 teachers • Art & music in elementary schools • World language at middle schools • Curriculum materials • Expand and enrich programs • 7 periods (versus 5 periods funded by the state) at middle & high schools

Technology and Capital Projects Levy • Currently at $17.0 million • Expires December 2015 • Current tax burden is $0.43 per $1,000 of assessed value • Uses • Computer & classroom technology upgrades to support instruction • One-to-one technology program currently being piloted at Sammamish High School • Puts Technology Instruction Curriculum Leaders in every school • Ongoing curriculum development • Large-scale maintenance projects – roofs, flooring, mechanical systems, etc. • Improvement/replacement of school sports fields and structures

Phase III Capital Construction Bond Measure • Authorize the District to sell an additional $450 million in capital bonds to rebuild older facilities and add capacity for growth: • Rebuilding 5 Elementary Schools – Bennett, Clyde Hill, Enatai,Puesta del Sol, and Stevenson • Rebuilding 1 Middle School – Highland MS • Remodeling International and Big Picture Schools • Adding capacity to overcrowded schools – Newport HS & Woodridge Elementary • Building two new schools • Phase I (2002) and Phase II (2008) measures funded the rebuilding 11 of 16 elementary schools; 4 of 5 middle schools and all 4 comprehensive high schools.
