PROPOSALS TO THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND PROSPERITY COMMITTEEby Elizabeth Efthymiadis PROPOSAL 1. • Give incentives to owners of old buildings on the Dundas segment from Talbot to Wellington to renovate unsightly façades. • Windfall: - Increased construction workthatwillbenefitcontractors and construction workers. - Beautification of the downtowncorethatwillenhancetourism and attract more business. - Increasedproperty values (a « plus » for the owners)thatwillbring in increasedproperty taxes (a « plus » for the City).

  2. PROPOSAL 2 • Offer a $5,000 or $10,000 yearly prize for the best front/window beautification of one of the small stores on that same Dundas segment – Talbot to Wellington. Same windfall as Proposal 1.

  3. PROPOSAL 3 • Organize a yearly “Contest of Excellence” for Southwestern Ontario high school students. Windfall: - utilization of all amenities - boosting of London’s reputation at the provincial level.

  4. PROPOSAL 4 • Facilitate the establishment of small businesses by making available on the City’s website a step-by-step Guide for Starting a Small Business.
