This study examines the average number of inpatient events among Veterans Health Administration (VHA) patients using Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey (MCBS) and VHA Patient Treatment Files (PTFs) from 1998 to 2002. Authors Jonk, O’Connor, Schult, Cutting, Feldman, Ripley, and Dowd explore patterns in healthcare utilization amongst Medicare-eligible veterans to inform future healthcare policies and improve service delivery for this population. Findings are relevant for understanding veterans' health trends in the context of Medicare.
