  1. Test Beam for DHCAL? • Test beam would be very useful for • Actual testing of calorimeter performances • Various sensitive gap technologies • Identify issues with different technologies • Provide a clear objectives of development efforts • Strengthens proposals • Use the data for development of EF and tracking algorithms in DHCAL, along with cosmic ray • At the LCWS2002, Jean Claud Brient presented • CALICE collaboration plans to run a Test beam in the year 2004 • Not clear where such beam is available, based on G. Fisk’s presentation of available resources in labs • Plans for modular absorber plate design • Allow sharing of absorber w/ just the sensitive gap sheet changes • Share DAQ electronics  EM Cal electronics by SNU team • EM Cal will be in the beam together Steve Magill, ANL & Jae Yu, UTA

  2. What do we need to do? • Should expedite our development efforts to participate in CALICE test beam run • CALICE looking for volunteer to provide absorber plates • ~40 layer design • Constructed and Delivered by early 2004 • Each interested party should • Come up with the list of items we can do for TB • Develop on-board Front End electronics that is compatible to DAQ • Need CALICE to provide some test DAQ modules for development • Produce sensitive gap detectors to fit into the absorber plate module • A combined (ANL/NIU/UTA + others) proposal to CALICE in time for their deadlines?? • DESY PRC in Nov.? • French reapplication proposal in Oct. • UK in Jan. 2003 • Etc… Steve Magill, ANL & Jae Yu, UTA
