  2. Welcome to Team Leading for GCSE Citizenship Studies Summer 2012! Welcome to the Team! Thank you for taking the step from being a moderator to becoming a team leader for GCSE Citizenship Studies. As a team leader, your role is to ensure that the moderators in your team are marking to the standard set by the Principal Moderator. Although you will have a small allocation to mark, as a team leader most of your time will be involved in monitoring the marking of the moderators in your team and providing feedback to the moderators to ensure they mark to standard from the begining to the end of the marking process. The Principal Moderator for Unit 2, Pauline Standen, will be available to support you throughout the marking period. The Citizenship team are looking forward to working with you over summer. Learning objectives • The following slides will provide you with useful information that will allow you to: • discover what support and further training is available • Find out about the different stages of the examination series & the role of the Team Leader at each of these stages Introduction to Team Leading

  4. Team Leader Training • As part of team leader training you will be learning about: Managing teams remotely and giving feedback Report writing Introduction to Team Leading

What support is available? • You will be assigned a supervisor who will be: • A Principal Moderator (PM) or • Assistant Principal Moderator (APM) • They monitor your moderation of samples, providing you with • feedback • They will also be your first point of escalation for any queries • or issues • You will be provided with the contact details for your • supervisor closer to the moderation period Introduction to Team Leading

Support from Edexcel • GQ Assessment Team (contact details at the end) • Work closely with the Senior Examiners to ensure that standardisation and moderation is completed to schedule and to the standard set • Closure and Completion team • Monitor the completion of moderation and ensure that all samples receive a moderator mark • Deployment (gqdeployment@edexcel.com) • Issue contracts and find additional moderators as required • AA Payments/Claims Control (aapayments@edexcel.com) • Point of contact for all queries related to payment • Helpdesk (0800 169 9202) • Provide support for any technical issues Introduction to Team Leading

Overview of an examination series During pre-standardisation After/Before pre-standardisation Standardisation • TLs support their team through the standardisation exercise • TLs provide feedback to team on standardisation exercise • TLs are briefed on administration procedures and the assessment criteria • TLs are standardised using exemplar material • TLs make contact with team to introduce themselves either before pre-stand or after if they have enough time between pre-standardisation and standardisation Introduction to Team Leading

Overview of an examination series At the end of the moderation period During moderation • TLs submit a series feedback report to the PM • TLs submit a feedback report on each of their moderators • TLs sample team’s samples • TLs monitor progress • TLs escalate any issues with standard of moderation to PM/APM • TLs complete own allocation of samples Introduction to Team Leading
