  4. 1. The role of the man,vs. 6-9.2. The role of the woman, vs. 10-21.

  5. Principle Vs. 12:Sin is ever present waiting to tempt you.Gen 4:7b, “Sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.”

  6. Vs. 13, “Brazen face” Signifying her arrogance of behavior; her brash and bold behavior; her lies and deception.

  7. Prov 21:29,“A wicked man displays a bold face, but as for the upright, he makes his way sure.”

  8. Vs. 14-18 are the main body of her persuasion, by means of lying, deception and a flattering tongue.

  9. Vs. 14,This is the hypocrisy of false and pseudo, worship, faith and religion!

  10. In true worship of the Peace Offering there are three kinds:Leviticus 3; 7:11-38; 22:17-25; Num 6.

  11. In true worship of the Peace Offering there are three kinds: 1) Eucharistic or thanksgiving offerings, expressive of gratitude for blessings received.

  12. 2) In fulfillment of a vow, but expressive of thanks for benefits received.

  13. 3) Free-will offerings, spontaneously devoted to God, including a wave offering (thank offering) that was waved before the Lord in gratitude for an unexpected blessing.

  14. Vs. 15,Three actions on the part of the sinner to tempt the naïve (Go out to meet, seek, find) noted in three ways,vs. 16-18.

  22. Anointing oil, Ex 30:23. Cosmetic, Esth 2:12; Psa 45:8; Song 3:6; 5:1, 5. Incense, Psa 45:8; S.S. 3:6; 4:14. Perfume, S.S. 1:13; 4:6. “Myrrh” - MOR, מֹר.Used for:

  23. An embalming substance, John 19:39 for our Lord. Figuratively of love, Song 1:13; 4:6, 14; 5:13.

  24. Principle:Something that smelled so good was actually bitter in taste and leads to death!

  25. “Aloes” – AHALOTH, אֲהָלוֹתUsed 3x:1) Psa 45:9, the smell of the garments of the King bridegroom on the day of his marriage.2) S.S. 4:14 a similar context.3) Enticement for a false union between a man and a woman.

  26. In the NT it is another spice in John 19:39, to embalm our Lord!

  27. Aloes represent marriage, (the covenant union between a right man and right woman) that when corrupted also leads to death.

  28. “Cinnamon” – QINNAMON, קִנָּמוֹןUsed 3x in the OT.1) Our verse.

  29. 2) Ex 30:23-33 to make an anointing oil for the Tent of Meeting, its articles and the priests.

  30. If anyone reproduced it or used it otherwise, they were to be cut off from the people.

  31. 3) In the Song of Songs, the bride’s beauty is compared with several spices including cinnamon, S.S. 4:14.

  32. In Rev 18:13, it is part of the merchandise of “Babylon the great” that will be destroyed in the Tribulation.

  33. So Cinnamon represents the beauty of the bride (the wife of Christ) and is here corrupted by the adulterous woman that will lead to utter destruction for her prey.

  34. Vs. 18, “Boastful Pride.”Let us satiate ourselves in lovemaking, because we can!

  35. Vs. 16-18, are filled with erotic imagery similar to the Song of Songs, yet here are counterfeit to true love and carefully calculated to arouse passion until he could no longer resist.

  36. Grace Offering1 Tim 5:17-18, “The elders who rule well are to be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching. 18For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle the ox while he is threshing,” and “The laborer is worthy of his wages.”
