  1. Orientation 2014-2015 Mrs. Gandy 6th grade Social Studies

  2. Classroom Rules • I-Five Expectations- kind, safe, courteous, respectful, responsible (Panther Pledge) • Be prepared • Be respectful. • Follow the code of conduct.

  3. Consequences The following order of events will occur for behavior issues: • Warnings and teacher-student conferences • Conduct check given • Phone call home to parents or note sent home • Parent-teacher-student conference • Office referral • Major offenses/disruptions will be immediately referred to the office.

  4. Conduct grade Entire nine weeks (based on conduct checks) 6-10 checks= S (satisfactory) 11-20 checks= N (needs improvement) 21 or more= U (unsatisfactory) Communication folders are sent home every other Thursday. If your child has any conduct checks, I will list them under “Conduct.” Please sign and return the communication folder the following school day.

  5. Conferences • Requested by parent or teachers • Please make requests via email, written note, phone call, or in person. • 9:40 AM or 2:45 PM

  6. Academic Awards • Eligibility is based on grades. • A note will be sent home prior to the ceremony so that you may make arrangements to attend. • A Honor Roll • A/B Honor Roll • Principal’s Award- great improvement

  7. Dress Code • Please follow guidelines in the Code of Conduct. • Please make sure your child wears appropriate shoes for PE (safety). • Skirts and shorts- 5” or less above the knee • Shirts- no low cut • Sleeveless tops- straps must measure at least 3 fingers width • No pants with writing or print on the backside area • No shirts with inappropriate slogans, phrases, or advertisements • If it’s a distraction, choose something else to wear. When in doubt, follow the Code of Conduct! Modesty is always the best policy!

  8. Parent Volunteers • Occasionally, I will need a parent volunteer to work in the classroom. • If you would like to volunteer, please fill out the form on the clipboard in the classroom. • Thank you so much for your support!

  10. Paperwork • Please complete all unstapled paperwork at this time. • If you need me to make a copy of your power bill, please put a stick note somewhere on the bill. I will return your original copy to you during the first week of school. • Place all complete paperwork in the folder. • Place the folder on my table. • The stapled packet is for you to keep at home.
