  2. CNNOG As data networks have developed remarkably in China, we are taking the initiative for China Network Operators’ Group (CNNOG). This is in line with mature practices like NANOG in North America, RIPE NCC Meetings in Europe , APRICOT in Asia and Pacific Region and NOGs in some countries. The meeting will provide a regional forum to discuss operational issues and hot technologies from vendors for network operators in China. CNNOG WWW.CNNOG.ORG

  4. CNNOG • Members • About 10 Committee members • 100+ registered members • Instant Message (QQ) Group & Mailing List • Steering Committee and Program Committee CNNOG WWW.CNNOG.ORG

CNNOG • Organization • Organized by several core members right now • Non-profit voluntary group • Is now not a legal entity, and there is no formal organization and donated housing. • Operated through the Internet • It is difficult to register a non-profit nongovernmental organization in China • In order to survive, we are attempting to cooperate with Gov’s similar association CNNOG WWW.CNNOG.ORG

  6. CNNOG • Funds • There is no fund support, so originally from personal funds • We hope all funds come from conference registration fees and donations from vendors, but we still need time to accumulate CNNOG WWW.CNNOG.ORG

  7. CNNOG • Cooperation • We cooperate with the China Gov's telecom association right now, through them we can keep a closer contact with Gov owned network operators • A few vendors in telecom industry give us great support as well. CNNOG WWW.CNNOG.ORG

  8. CNNOG • Meetings • held two times each year • membership is open and free to register • participants typically include senior engineering staff from operators and vendors • Speakers from vendors, researchers and policy makers CNNOG WWW.CNNOG.ORG

  9. CNNOG1 • CNNOG 1 held in Beijing on 9-10 January, 2005 • CNNOG 1 was to establish the procedure for future meetings and obtain a consensus for such a group. CNNOG WWW.CNNOG.ORG

  10. CNNOG1 • Participants – 100+ participants – net-ops from China Telecom, China Mobile, CERNET, ISPs etc. CNNOG WWW.CNNOG.ORG

  11. CNNOG1 • Program – Talks on ISP Security,DDOS, Netflow Network Monitoring, NGN Deployment, GSM Security, Equipment security assessment, Google Hacking, Security model, Backbone Traffic Management etc… – about 10 topics CNNOG WWW.CNNOG.ORG

  12. CNNOG2 • CNNOG 2 held in Beijing on 8-9 Nov., 2005 • CNNOG 2 held as the Second Annual Conference on China’s Communication Network Operation and Maintenance, cooperate with China Communication Network O&M Committee (COMC) CNNOG WWW.CNNOG.ORG

  13. CNNOG2 • Participants – 300+ participants – net-ops from almost all carriers and isps, such as China Telecom, China Netcom, China Mobile, China Uninet, Sina, Sohu, 263… – more vendor participants CNNOG WWW.CNNOG.ORG

  14. CNNOG2 • Program – about 20+ talks – On 3G Deployment, NGN Deployment, VoIP Security, P2P Network, Network Traffic , Security Operations Centers,… – experience from operators – new tech from vendors CNNOG WWW.CNNOG.ORG

CNNOG3…… • CNNOG3 Will be held in April 2006 • CNNOG is like a new-born baby but worst environment to survive • This year we’ll do more work to organize this group and communicate with other groups, making it recognized and acknowledged • And we also need more help from global NOGs and mature practices in Internet society CNNOG WWW.CNNOG.ORG
