  2. To get into college students need to overcome the following: 1. Minimum Entry Requirements2. Specific Course Requirements3. Points Rachelle McDonagh Career Guidance Counsellor

  3. Minimum Entry Requirements • Institute of Technology: Five passes at ordinary level including English & Maths. • Universities: need Six subjects – at least two at higher level. Rachelle McDonagh Career Guidance Counsellor

  4. Specific Course Requirements: For example • Higher level Irish for Primary School Teaching • Higher Level Chemistry for Veterinary • Higher Level Maths for Engineering & Actuary in University. • Higher Level Biology for Human Health & Disease (T.C.D) Rachelle McDonagh Career Guidance Counsellor

  5. Points1. A student’s points are calculated from his/ her best six subjects.2. All subjects give equal points except for higher level maths where bonus points are awarded for all courses.3.
