KSS Overview

Rapid growth in numbers:

2007-2008: 120

2008-2009: 300

2009-2010: 491 *

*NB Added to sign off for ALL trainees in 2009-2010, so provision allocated for 520 places, as safety net needed

kss overview1
7 of our 11 NHS Trusts have now developed local provision for FY1

8 potential hospitals have yet to develop local simulation for FY1

Two NHS Trusts providing ‘partnership’ simulation for FY1s: Brighton and Royal Surrey County

Only 3 KSS NHS Trusts now using London specialist centre provision

KSS Overview
kss overview2

To expand simulation provision into FY2

To ensure all NHS Trusts have at least one clinical skills facility

To expand simulation provision within core and specialty training

KSS Overview
All Foundation Year 1 trainees will receive at least one experience of high-fidelity simulation within their placement at their local education provider NHS Trust. This will be delivered by local faculty released formally from service delivery and the experience quality-assured by the Deanery with a visiting team drawn from the community of practice across the KSS region operationalising national and KSS quality standards.Vision:
