  11. What is meant by LASIK eye surgery? LASIK is the abbreviated form of Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis which adjusts the cornea shape permanently. It is done with the help of excimer laser and is regarded as the most advanced laser eye surgerydiscovered ever.

  12. The methods to perform LASIK eye surgery? • Step-I: Placement of the suction ring is done over eye’s cornea. • Step-II: A partial flap even uniform thickness is made by the microkeratome in cornea. • Step-III: Corneal flap is held back on its hinge to expose the central portion only. • Step-IV: Tissues are removed by the excimer laser for reshaping the cornea. • Step-V: The hinged corneal flap is brought back to its own position.

  13. Potential Risks • No availability of long-term correction • Eyeglasses may need after surgery as well for some patients • A pale chance of complete vision loss is also there • Debilitated visual symptoms can be there too • Severe dry eye symptoms can emerge • Impact of the outcome may get faded out with time for hyperopia patients

  14. LASIK is not suitable if- • You have any long-term disease or taking any medication which can interfere with recovery. • You have changed the prescription glasses and contact lenses last year. It mainly occurs due to refractive instability. • You participate in sports actively such as martial arts, wrestling and boxing in which there is a chance to receive direct blow on face and eyes.
