Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) has achieved a 7% reduction in travel emissions this year and a total cut of 23% in the last five years. They are on track to meet their 2020 targets with a fleet size reduction of 7% annually. Sheila Currie, the SNH Greening Officer, can be contacted for more information. SNH faced operational challenges as a national organization with workplaces across Scotland, including remote and island areas. To combat this, they focused on controlling various aspects of travel, including office-to-nature, office-to-partner, and office-to-office travel. By implementing video conference kits, a Vehicle Admin System, and Annual Carbon Budgets, SNH has successfully reduced their carbon footprint. The use of vehicle trackers and the 'Book.it' system has allowed for efficient management of the fleet based on actual needs. They have also developed a Greening Database to streamline reporting and promote sustainability efforts.

NEXT STEPS: SMARTER REPORTING We built a Greening Database to host all our Greening/Carbon data AND to produce standard and tailored reporting for managers and anyone. This is an extension of our Property Asset Management system (PAMS)… We already share PAMS with other bodies, and hope to share the Greening section too…ask us if you’re interested!
