  1. Product Knowledge Presentation:Ceiling Mounted Wireless Occupancy Sensor

  2. Course Objectives: After this program you will know…. • New product features & benefits • Unique technology • Product availability and pricing • Who will buy/ channels of distribution • Tools available to sell the product • Where this product fits into the Lutron line • Lutron Difference features and how to demonstrate them

  3. Ceiling Mounted Wireless Occupancy Sensor • What is it? • A ceiling mountedoccupancy sensorthat communicates withother Lutronwireless controls andrequires NO hard-wiredelectricity

  4. Ceiling Mounted Wireless Occupancy Sensor • What does it do? • A sensor that communicates with other Lutron wireless controls • Detects room occupancy and/orvacancy • Feeds the information back to awireless (RF) lighting control (NEW Maestro Wireless for example) • The lighting control then responds withthe appropriate course of action (turning lights on to user-selected preset or shutting them off)

  5. Ceiling Mounted Wireless Occupancy Sensor • How does it install? • Start with Pre-Programming the Sensor • Press and hold the tap button for 6 seconds until middle LED on device begins flashing. • Press and hold “Lights Off” button on front of Sensor for 6 seconds until lens flashes. Lights in room will flash 3 times, indicating a successful association. • Both devices will exit association mode automatically.

  6. Ceiling Mounted Wireless Occupancy Sensor • How does it install? • Next, Set the Occupancy Light Level • (when sensor is used with dimmer) • Adjust the dimmer to the properlight level • Hold down the “Lights On” buttonon the sensor until the lens flashesrapidly

  7. Ceiling Mounted Wireless Occupancy Sensor • How does it install? • Third, Test the Room Coverage & RF Communication • 3M Command strip or ceiling tile mounting wire allows you to temporarily mount bracket and sensor • Press the “Test: Sensor” button • Walk around the room – the lensglows as it detects movement • Use this to verify that the sensor is in a good location to detect occupancy throughout the room and that it doesn’t pick up in areas outside the room • Press the “Test: Sensor” button again to end the test • Press “Test: Lights On” button to make sure lights turn on • Press “Test: Lights Off” button to make sure lights turn off

  8. Ceiling Mounted Wireless Occupancy Sensor • How does it install? • Finally, Mount the Sensor Permanently • For finished ceilings, the outerbracket attaches usingscrews & anchors • For ceiling tile, the outer bracket attaches with mounting wire, twist legs of mounting wire together tightly above ceiling tile • In both cases, the sensor rotates & locks into the bracket

  9. Ceiling Mounted Wireless Occupancy Sensor • How does it work? • Cutting Edge Detection Technology for Sensing Fine Motion • Problems with Passive-IR (typically) • It can be very sensitive so that randomobjects in the room cause it to false-trip(turn on unnecessarily) • The sensitivity can be tuned, but thenit can’t pick up fine movements(typing, watching TV, reading) • People sitting in the room for long periodsof time then need to wave their arms orstand up to turn the lights back on

  10. Ceiling Mounted Wireless Occupancy Sensor • How does it work? • Cutting Edge Detection Technology for Sensing Fine Motion • Lutron’s Technology • Does NOT depend upon set sensitivitylevels (regardless if the level was setthrough a manual or adaptive process) • Error-correcting techniques andsignal-processing algorithms are usedto double the sensitivity level whencompared against normal passive-IRsensors • Allows the sensor to detect finemovements (typing at a keyboard) toprevent false-tripping of the sensor

  11. Ceiling Mounted Wireless Occupancy Sensor • What are the model numbers? • Ceiling Mounted Sensors Automatically Turn Lights Off: • LRF2-OCRB-P-WH Occupancy / Vacancy sensor • Auto-On Always: lights will always turn on automatically • Auto-On Low Light: lights will only turn on automatically when there is not sufficient ambient light in the room • Auto-On Disable: converts sensor to vacancy sensor; manually turn lights on • LRF2-VCRB-P-WH • Vacancy sensor only; manually turn light on • Can NOT be reprogrammed as an occupancy sensor • CEC Title 24 Compliant • Ceiling Mounted Sensors are only available in a white, matte finish

  12. Ceiling Mounted Wireless Occupancy Sensor • What are the model numbers? • Compatible Maestro Wireless (RF) Product: • MRF2-10D-120- • 1000W/VA smart dimmer • Rated for incandescent, halogen, & magnetic low-voltage loads • MRF2-8ANS-120- • 8-Amp, 120V~ electronic switch • Rated for all lighting & fan loads • MRF2-6ANS-277- • 6-Amp, 277V~ electronic switch • Rated for all lighting • Maestro Wireless dimmer and switches are available in gloss WH, IV, AL, LA, GR, BR, BL • Companion dimmer is MA-R- • Companion 120V switch is MA-AS-; companion 277V switch is MA-AS-277-

  13. Ceiling Mounted Wireless Occupancy Sensor • What is the pricing? • Sensors: • LRF2-OCRB-P-WH: $130 List • LRF2-VCRB-P-WH: $130 List • Compatible Maestro Wireless Product: • MRF2-10D-120- $130 List • MRF2-8ANS-120- $120 List • MRF2-6ANS-277- $190 List

  14. Ceiling Mounted Wireless Occupancy Sensor • Who will buy it? • Residential Applications: • Laundry rooms, garages, closets, & pantries • Areas where homeowners use both hands for haulinggroceries, clothes baskets, storage boxes, plates, etc. • Use the occupancy control to safely & conveniently get the lights turned on • Bedrooms, kid playrooms • Areas where lights are commonly left on unnecessarily • Use the vacancy control to shut these areas off when not in use

  15. Ceiling Mounted Wireless Occupancy Sensor • Who will buy it? • Commercial Applications: • Break rooms, conference rooms, small offices, & restrooms • Use the occupancy control to make sure these areas are well lit and safe as people enter • Given that few people remember to turn lights out in public spaces, and that some of the areas may be unoccupied for hours at a time, use the vacancy control to keep these areas shut off when not in use

  16. Ceiling Mounted Wireless Occupancy Sensor • Who will buy it? • Vertical Market Applications: • Education • Dorm Rooms: Students leave their lights on while at class • Locker Rooms: Large space with lots of lighting that’s only used for short bursts of time throughout the day • Hospitality • Back of the House: Achieve adequate lighting for staff members who spend most of their time in the front of the house and whose focus is NOT on whether they leave lights on or not

  17. Ceiling Mounted Wireless Occupancy Sensor • What tools will be available? • Literature: • Sell Sheet P/N 367-1598 • Link to sell sheet available at www.lutron.com/occsensors early next week • Goal: printed ones in-stock by March 20 • CSI Specifications and cut sheet - draft under review - Goal: on-line by March 20 • Technical White Paper on detection technology - draft under review - Goal: on-line by March 20
