  2. Once upon a time, there was a little girl whose mother died and father married another lady. The lady had two daughters who asked the little girl to wash the dishes and clean.

  3. When the poor girl had finished her work, shesaton the chimney-corner amongst the cinders, which made her sisters give her the name of “Cinderella.”

  4. Oneday the king's son sent invitations to a ball at hispalace. The two sisters were invited amongotheryoungwomen.

  5. The two sisters stepped into their carriage, and drove away to the palace.

  6. Cinderella returned to the kitchen in tearsbecauseshewantedtoattendtheballtoo. Suddenly, she saw a beautiful woman who asked her: “Heydear! What are all these tearsabout my child?”

  7. “I am your godmother and I can help you.”

  8. She gave Cinderella a magnificent ball-dress and a beautiful pair of elastic glass slippers.

  9. The godmother told her that she hadto come back before midnight because everythingwouldgo back to normal bythen.

  10. The arrival of Cinderella calledeverybody’sattention at thepalace. The prince took her hand and invited her to dance.

  11. WhenCinderellasawthatitwasalmostmidnight, sheleftthepalace as quickly as possible.

  12. She let one of her glass slippersfallonherwayout, which the prince picked up with the greatest care.

  13. The princepublishedanannouncementsayingthat he would marry the lady whose foot would fit the slipper.

  14. When thegentlemenarrived at Cinderella´shouse, she askedthem to try it on her foot.

  15. And the slipperfitherfootperfectly. When the sisters realized that Cinderela was that beautifulwoman at thepalace, theyapologyzedforeverythingtheydidtoherbefore.

  16. The prince askedCinderella to marry him.
