There are several rules to remember about changing singular nouns to plural nouns. We have learned about two…. Add –s to most singular nouns. Add –es to words ending in s, sh, ch, or x.
Another rule…..If the singular noun ends in y, change the y to i before adding –es. SingularPlural fly flies cherry cherries bunny bunnies baby babies
I ate a strawberry for a snack. I ate strawberries for a snack.
My grandpa has a pony. My grandpa has three ponies.
Dad found a penny. Dad found five pennies.
She gave a birthday party. She gave two birthday parties.
Another rule….some nouns change their spelling to name more than one. Singular (1) Plural (more) man men woman women child children mouse mice

Let’s look at some examples. The man went to work. The men went to work. The child played at recess. The children played at recess.
