FLKRS is administered during the first 30 days of school. FLKRS final date is October 4, 2011. The PMRN will not accept FLKRS data after that date. 2 2

Provide objective dataconcerning each student's readiness for kindergarten and progress in attaining the VPK performance standards Incorporate mechanisms for recognizing potential variations in kindergarten readiness rates for students with disabilities. - Section 1002.69(1), F.S.

  4. Legislative Authority and PurposeWho should be screened? All kindergarten studentsin each school district must be screened. - Section 1002.69(1), F.S. Each child who was enrolled in the VPK Education programby his or her parent during the previous school year must be submitted for the statewide kindergarten screening, regardless of whether the child is admitted to kindergarten in a public school or non-public school. - Section 1002.69(4), F.S.

  15. For some English Language Learners, the FAIR-K may not be an appropriate instrument. Given that theFAIR-K is an assessment of reading in English,it would be inappropriate to translate the directions given to the student. FLKRS Overview Participation Status Descriptions 15

  16. FLKRS Overview Participation Status Descriptions For somestudents with disabilities, FLKRS may not be appropriate. Students who have been retainedin kindergarten are not included in the administration of the FLKRS. 16

FLKRS/FAIR-K Overview Broad Diagnostic Inventory – Vocabulary Task • The Vocabulary Picture Booklet is needed to administer • the Vocabulary Task. • It is an expressive vocabulary measure, meaning that • the student must produce the word. • The vocabulary words were not selected from a student’s • personal language, but from academic language.

  31. FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview What is the ECHOS™? ECHOS™ is an ongoing, embedded assessmentor an observational assessment that is a natural part of the ongoing activity in the classroom. 31

  32. FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview How is the ECHOS™ administered? Teachers observe students to determine what they know and are able to do and record their observations (on the FLKRS Class Record Form that is included in the FLKRS Kit). 32

  34. FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview Administration Requirements ECHOS™ should be completed by a teacher, trained in its administration. Kindergarten teachers may NOT administer the ECHOS™ to students they taught in VPK. 34

  35. FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview Administration Accommodations Forstudents with disabilitiesand English Language Learners (ELLs), a flexible setting that is quieter than the regular classroom should be considered. 35

  46. FLKRS/K-2 EST Overview Security The K-2 Application is a secure site that uses the same encryption as a financial institution. An automatic timeout will occur if there is no activity for 20 minutes. The site’s security settings can be confirmed by the appearance of a padlock icon in the address bar (Internet Explorer), in the browser’s footer (Firefox), and a padlock icon in the top right of the browser (Safari). The K-2 EST is accessible by users (e.g., administrators, the administrators’ designee, and teachers) at schools that are registered to use the PMRN.
