  4. COMPLEMENTARY MEDECINE • Alternative medicine is any practice that is put forward as having the healing effects of medicine but is not based on evidence gathered using the scientific method.[1] • Examples: • homeopathy, naturopathy, herbal and acupuncture etc.

  5. Complementary medicine is alternative medicine used together with conventional medical treatment in a belief, not proven by using scientific methods, that it "complements" the treatment.[n 1][1][4][5]CAM is the abbreviation for Complementary and alternative medicine

It is considered that • Alternate medicines are usually based on religion, tradition, superstition, belief in supernatural energies, pseudoscience, errors in reasoning, propaganda, or fraud.[ • that alternative therapies typically lack any scientific validation, and their effectiveness is either unproved or disproved

Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) has been described as a broad domain of healing resources that encompasses all health systems, modalities, and practices and their accompanying theories and beliefs. • About 50% of people in developed countries use some kind of complementary and alternative medicine other than prayer for health.[
