  2. Challenge Phase • Stimulus: • Different newspaper articles • Focus on security violation. • Brainstorm: • Where lies the biggest security risk regarding computers?

  3. Can our school surf the Internet safely?

  4. Investigation task: • The schools’ current ICT policy • Help rewriting of the policy • Base suggestions on the current Internet usage at school

  5. During the project: • You will be divided into groups • Complete a KWL chart. • Investigate the use of the Internet at school. • A learning Circle could be used to investigate the Internet Policies of other schools in the same town, country or other countries. • Keep log of your investigation using Blogger. • For 1st time Blog users: What is a BLOG? • Plan your investigation carefully using the Big 6 Skills • Planning your research using the Big6TM Skills. • Present your findings to the Governing Body - suggest possible changes to the ICT policy of the school. • Run a security awareness campaign at school to make the learners more aware of the different security risks and preventions.

  6. Gathering Phase • Complete the KWL chart • Identify what information you need and where to find it. • Investigate Internet security concepts • Rank the importance of these concepts is using the Visual Ranking tool • A Learning Circle: gather Internet policy ideas from other schools, compare our school’s security with that of other schools. • Each team member chooses one specific concept and informs the teacher via e-mail. • Use Word to create a survey to identify the risk at school amongst our learners.

  7. Processing Phase • Decide what information you will use. • Analyse and evaluate your findings using a spreadsheet program. • Group: discuss the focus question and share your findings with the group • finding could be put into a mind map program or Seeing Reason Unanswered questions? Further investigation!

Production Phase • Correspondence letter • Present your findings to the Governing Body in a Correspondence letter incorporating your excel charts. • Carefully motivate your opinion to the Governing body • Create a school awareness campaign • A PowerPoint presentation • Useful links regarding PowerPoint Presentations • A brochure or newspaper done in Publisher
