  1. The Personal Planning System Enterprise Edition Assigning a Training Objective

  2. Let’s begin by opening up a consumer’s folder. We do this through the People Menu.

  3. Open Elizabeth Crandall’s folder by clicking on “Open”

  4. With Elizabeth’s folder open, we find “Elizabeth’s Training Objectives” located on the People Menu. We will click on “Add New Objective for Elizabeth”.

  5. The training program we select will come from our Program Library. Click on the Yes button in the box. .

  6. . . and a list of domains will appear. Select the one you want from the list.

  7. When you click on the arrow for Category, a list of categories of Home Living will appear. Let’s select “Food Handling” from this list by clicking twice on it.

  8. We then click on the arrow for Item and double click on “Prepare Cold Food”.

  9. Finally, we click on the arrow for Program, and click on “Prepare Cold Cereal - TT”. This is an available program under the “Prepare Cold Food” Item in the “Food Handling” category of the “Home Living” domain. See how easy selecting programs from the Program Library is?

  10. Now we must click on “OK”

  11. The first thing we must do is give this objective an objective number. Because this is Elizabeth’s first Home Living objective, we’ll call this one “HL-01”. Click the Next Button to move to the “Progress Steps” screen.

  12. Because this is a total task program, this screen shows not just progress steps, but also the task analysis and the set of performance levels used by this program. Since this is a total task program, progress steps are not necessary. Let’s get rid of this set by highlighting them and pressing “Options”.

  13. From the list it gives us, we’ll choose “Remove”.

  14. Instead of using progress steps for this program, the PPS will just calculate and graph the percentage of independence.

  15. Clicking “Next” moved us to the Implementation Screen. Select 1 in the Evaluate progress section, and then select Month. This tells the PPS we will do a progress note every month.

  16. Click on Start Date and type in the program’s implementation date. Click on Target Date, and type the date that you expect the program’s criteria to be met.

  17. Make sure “Priority” is checked. Skip “Use Baseline” unless you know what progress step the student was on BEFORE the training program began.

  18. Click in the space to the right of the word Responsible to assign the Responsible Person for monitoring and entering the monthly note.

  19. We’ll choose Kathy Peters by typing in the first letter of the last name, and then clicking on her name.

  20. Click on the down arrow to the right of Discipline to select the discipline of the Responsible Person. This is sometimes useful for reporting purposes.

  21. Leave “Observation Only” blank and Click the Next Button.

  22. We are asked if we wish to schedule this training. If we select “Yes” we will go to the Schedule screen.

  23. To schedule this training, we will type the time training will occur in the “Time” box.

  24. We will do this training at 7:15 in the morning. In the Duration area, type the number of hours and minutes which should be reserved for this training.

  25. Click on the down arrow to the right of Location and click on the location where this training will occur.

  26. This will be done on Wednesdays and Fridays.

  27. But data will only be taken on Fridays.

  28. Next we select the staff person who will be doing this training. It can be, but does not need to be the same person who will be writing the progress notes.

  29. And finally we click on the “Exit” button to return to Elizabeth’s Chart.

  30. To Summarize . . . • From the “People” menu (when a chart is open), select Add New Objective • Select the program you wish to add from the Program Library • Modify the program in any way you wish • Enter the necessary dates and responsible people, and schedule if necessary
