15. Pastor Kenny will be on vacation in Atlanta this week. There will be no Wednesday night or Sunday night church.
16. If you have not filled out our survey about evening services, please do so. It will help us develop ministries to help the entire church.
17. I am hoping to make some tweaks to the website. I have started to include bulletins and PowerPoint presentations. I hope to have full audio of sermons online. I would like to include devotional material, created by you. If you’re interested, let me know. I am also interested in anybody who would like to take over site maintenance.

20. Luke 24:36-49 36While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you." 37They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38He said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?
21. Luke 24:36-49 39Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have."
40When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet.
22. Luke 24:36-49 1And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, "Do you have anything here to eat?" 42They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43and he took it and ate it in their presence. 44He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you:
23. Luke 24:36-49 Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms."
45Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.
24. Luke 24:36-49 46He told them, "This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
25. Luke 24:36-49 48You are witnesses of these things. 49I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."

70. Today’s MessageJohn 20:1-18Supernatural Man of Mystery
72. Shocking Usually our imaginations produce more shocking things than real life.
Shock often involves terror or severe emotional trauma.
What the disciples went through when Jesus died can be considered shock.
Imagine seeing a guy rise from the dead!
73. John 20:1-18 1Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.
74. John 20:1-18 2So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have put him!"
75. John 20:1-18 3So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. 4Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in.
76. John 20:1-18 6Then Simon Peter, who was behind him, arrived and went into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, 7as well as the burial cloth that had been around Jesus' head. The cloth was folded up by itself, separate from the linen.
77. John 20:1-18 8Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. 9(They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.) 0Then the disciples went back to their homes, 11but Mary stood outside the tomb crying.
78. John 20:1-18 As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus' body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. 13They asked her, "Woman, why are you crying?"
79. John 20:1-18 "They have taken my Lord away," she said, "and I don't know where they have put him." 14At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.
15"Woman," he said, "why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?"
80. John 20:1-18 Thinking he was the gardener, she said, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him."
16Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, "Rabboni!" (which means Teacher).
81. John 20:1-18 17Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.' "
18Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: "I have seen the Lord!" And she told them that he had said these things to her.
82. Crucifixion The events of the previous day came quickly, and the disciples are still in shock.
Peter was adamant that Jesus would never die.
Jesus was tried, beaten, and crucified in a 24 hour period. It went fast.
The shock was tremendous.
83. A Shock Adding to it was the discovery of the empty tomb.
There were guards in front of the tomb for fear that the disciples would steal the body.
Ever have something go so bad, then you get more bad stuff on top of it?
The body is gone.
The disciples ran to the tomb.
84. A Mystery Who did it?
Why?
Where did it go?
Why were the burial clothes positioned how they were?
Somebody stealing the body would not have positioned the cloths in this manner.
85. Evidence of More Shock After seeing the tomb, they still did not understand.
They went back to discuss what happened and the next step to take.
Mary goes to the tomb wailing.
She fails to notice two angels there.
86. The Man She sees Jesus, but doesn’t recognize him.
Jesus is sincere with her.
She thinks he’s the gardener.
Where is he? She doesn’t take into account how she will move the body.
It is the utterance of her name that snaps her out of it.
87. Her Joy Her joy has the same intensity as her grief.
Remember, at this point she just wants the body back.
She exclaims, “Teacher!”
“Don’t hold on to me.”
She goes to share the shocking news.
It’s magical the way Jesus turns her suffering to joy.
88. What is Easter? A celebration of the resurrection?
A reminder that God isn’t dead?
A symbol of victory?
It is also a reminder of how God turns our grief into joy.
89. Lent In our Passover presentation, we learned how God uses visuals to help us remember things.
He wants us to remember how He turns our grief into joy.
We took seven weeks to deny ourselves something important.
We can be joyous, knowing what was lost has now been returned.
90. What has been returned? Our lives and our freedom!
All people who belong to God will be raised from the dead.
Through sin, all have forfeited their lives.
At death, the pursuit of freedom and joy are no longer viable.
Through faith, these things are returned to us, giving us joy.
91. What about now? What has God returned to us in this present life?
Our hope!
When hope is lost, misery sets in.
Christ restores hope by establishing guidelines for His Church. We are the presence of God.
He restores our hope by promising us an end.
92. Conclusion At the empty tomb, the disciples lost hope.
In their own minds, they sacrificed for a lie.
Jesus’ resurrection returned their hope and joy.
This Easter, be reminded not to lose hope.
