His Story…Launched into the national spotlight after winning two Olympic medals during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah | His unique look, including his wavy hair and signature bandana, helped attract throngs of fans making him the face for short track speedskating in the U.S. and around the globe | At the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy, Apolo once again won over the hearts of American’s as he added three more medals to his Olympic hardware collection, including a gold medal in one of the final events of the 2006 Olympics - the men’s 500 meter race |In the spring of 2007, he built off his mainstream celebrity status by competing in and winning season four of the hit reality TV show, ABC’s "Dancing with the Stars" |

Fresh Tracks…Started speedskating at the age of 12 | Took him less than two years to become the best short track skater in the U.S. |At 14, after training at Lake Placid Training Center for just six months, Ohno claimed his first overall title at the U.S. Championships | Ohno’s success made him a likely candidate to make the 1998 U.S. Olympic Team, but he struggled with training which impacted his fitness and he finished 16th at the Olympic Trials |

Japanese Heritage & Father -Son Bond… Raised by his Japanese father Yuki, a hair stylist and salon owner in Seattle, Apolo credits his father for his success and his signature hair style | As a teenager, Ohno often rebelled against his father and ran with a sometimes questionable crowd |It was his dad that pushed him to pursue excellence on and off the ice, including secluding his son to a cottage three hours northwest of Seattle with no distractions, forcing him to consider his future |Apolo credits Yuki for his respect for elders which transpired into Apolo’s interest in working with Nikkei Concerns, a leading provider of elder care services in the Northwest |
