  1. Roger Stone Arrested

  2. Roger Stone has been indicted by a grand jury and arrested by the FBI on charges brought by special counsel Robert Mueller, who alleges that the longtime Donald Trump associate sought stolen emails from WikiLeaks that could damage Trump's opponents at the direction of "a senior Trump Campaign official.” The indictment (which is a formal charge or accusation of a serious crime) does not say who on the campaign knew about Stone's quest, but makes clear it was multiple people. Stone was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury in the District of Columbia on seven counts, including one count of obstruction of an official proceeding, five counts of false statements, and one count of witness tampering. Stone was then arrested by the FBI Friday morning at his home in Florida. A number of law enforcement vehicles with silent sirens flashing pulled in front of Stone's home on a darkened Ft. Lauderdale street just after 6 a.m. Friday morning. About a dozen officers with heavy weapons and tactical vests fanned out across Stone's lawn. Law enforcement shined a flashlight into Stone's front door before one officer rapped against it, shouting, "FBI. Open the door.” Seconds later, the agent shouted, "FBI. Warrant.” A floor light turned on and moments later, Stone appeared in the front entryway. He confirmed who he was to law enforcement. Because this is a story that is unfolding just as this current event is being written, a great deal more information may become available throughout the day and evening.

  3. In Other News • The Trump administration will begin sending some asylum seekers at the southern border back to Mexico on Friday, according to a Department of Homeland Security official. Some individuals who arrive at the San Ysidro port of entry, south of San Diego, starting Friday will be given notices to appear in court in the US and told to remain in Mexico until then. Outside of their court appearances, individuals who arrive without proper documentation will remain in Mexico for the duration of their immigration proceedings under this policy. Those with a "well-founded fear" of staying in Mexico, unaccompanied minors and certain vulnerable populations will be allowed into the US for their immigration proceedings. US Immigration and Customs Enforcement will be responsible for transporting asylum seekers to and from US ports of entry for their court appearances. • Searchers found 3-year-old Casey Hathaway, the North Carolina boy who disappeared from his great-grandmother's backyard three days ago. Search teams had been combing about 1,000 acres of heavily wooded areas, through freezing cold, heavy rains and high winds. On a tip, they ended up in a spot where they heard Casey calling out for his mother. Following his cries for about 50 yards, searchers found him tangled up in vines and thorns. He's at a hospital being treated for cuts and scrapes and has been reunited with his family.
