Today the genre we are going to write in is: a thank-you note.

  • (Grammatical note: ‘thank-you’ is a noun and adjective. ‘Thank you’ is the verb: the act of thanking. However; English is fluid and moving towards, ‘thank you’, for all forms.)

1.Starting your Thank-You Note

You start with a salutation of some kind.

2.Thank them specifically

Start your note by saying thank you, and give the reason why.

Use positive language and the language of gratitude. E.g. ‘so much’, ‘very kind’, ‘hope’, ‘lovely’.
