  4. Name? Most amazing veterinary/volunteer experience? Which field of vet med?

  5. What does it take to become a veterinarian? • GPA: In general the average is around 3.6-3.75 • GRE: average scores are in the 80-90th percentile for all sections • Animal experience hours: average 3500 • Variation • Recommendation letters: • At least 2 veterinarians • 1 academic Interview • PASSION + DRIVE

  6. So, what is expected of me in order to be a member? Active membership Event membership • 1) Pay $15 in dues per semester by the due date listed • 2) Attend three events per semester • 3) Keep in communication with the PVMA President throughout the semester • 1) Be an enrolled student at SDSU • 2) Pay $15 in dues per semester by Wednesday September 12th(or $20 for the whole year • 3) Attend all required meetings per semester* • 4) Attend three events per semester** • 5) Attend one fundraiser event (Daphne’s) • 6) Attend all guest speakers • 7) Work or volunteer at an animal related facility for 30 hours a semester Dues paying membership • 1) Pay $15 in dues per semester by the due date listed

YOU MUST GIVE TWO WEEKS NOTICE IN ORDER TO BACK OUT OF ANY EVENT THAT YOU HAVE AGREED TO ATTEND If you fail to comply to this rule You will have to attend 4 events instead of 3 events in order to be an active member You will be considered an events member only (not active) and will forfeit your slots at future events.

  11. Movie Tickets FUNDRAISER • Mandatory Participation! • Starts at 1st meeting. • Due by Friday Sept. 21st at Bowling Social. • Sell for $8.50 each • Should have tickets to pass back by second club meeting. GOAL: at least 5 tickets per person.

  12. Make Baggies for Fundraiser • Thursday, September 13th @ 5pm • Location East Commons • Five people • Does not count as a fundraiser but does count as a club event.

  13. OB Dog Beach FUNDRAISER • Sunday, September 23rd • 11am- 2pm • Voltaire St in Ocean Beach

  14. Daphne's Fundraiser • October 11th 2pm- Close • East Commons

  15. Harry Griffin Dog Park FUNDRAISER • Saturday, October 27th • 11am- 1pm • 9550 Milden St La Mesa, CA 91944

  16. Balboa Dog Park “Nate’s Point”FUNDRAISER • Sunday, October 28th • 11am- 1pm • Laurel St. & Balboa Dr. are cross roads.

SUPAI TRIP • Supai is an Indian Reservation located in the Grand Canyon. • every year a group of people, around 40, hike down to the village. • amongst those people are large and small animal veterinarians. • we have the opportunity to be part of this group, unfortunately, only 2-3 members can go. • We would leave the Saturday before Thanksgiving and come back the Wednesday right before Thanksgiving, you WILL NEED TO MISS CLASS. • if you are interested please send Alicia an email with: • your class level • your GPA • your animal experience (whether you have worked in a hospital before or not)
