AID Odisha • 2004: Chapter started • 2006: AID Rural Technology Resource Centre (ARTRC) started • Skill training of local artisans • Experiments in organic farming • Promotion of basic education • 2010: • Fully operating elementary school • A small organic farm • A profitable tailoring school and workshop • Partnership with Pratham in distributing solar LED lanterns http://orissa.aidindia.org

ARTRC Vision Development in the backward and tribal region of Gajapatidistrict Mission Make employment opportunities for the potential youth of Gajapatidistrict • 2009: Industrial Training Center started • Tailoring and Dress making course • Approval from NCVT (National Council for Vocational Training) • Also has approval for fashion design, data entry operator and building maintainance

  4. Vocation Training @ARTRC • Free computer education for disadvantaged rural students • Year long course • 18 trainees have graduated and found job • Currently 16 trainees (14 women)

  5. Tailoring @ ARTRC • Started in 2006 • 2009: Approved • Resources • Two sewing and cutting masters • 19 sewing (fully paid) + 2 embroidery machines

Expansion Plans • Proposed plan to meet the demand • Electrician • Fitter • Welder (gas and electric) • Motor vehicle mechanic • Plumber • Computer Operator & Programming Assistant • Data Entry Operator • Metals and manufacturing sector • 39 Engineering colleges • 161 ITI and 300 coming soon • Gajapathy district has seven blocks, but only two ITCs
