  1. CAPE COD STYLE HOUSE

  2. What is the cape cod house style? The practical layout and sparse adornment of a Cape Cod house represent traditional culture and warmth, serving as a forerunner to modern architecture. It nevertheless has a characteristic American appearance while having developed from a straightforward English home. Clean lines, a broad rectangular shape, a symmetrical facade, shingles on the outside, and a big chimney in the middle distinguish it. A classic Cape Cod home had one story, but dormers or second storeys were added for practical reasons. These modest homes give the image of idyllic living and lack porches or further decorations, making them suitable for a variety of homeowners. The heavy snow and rain were easier to slide off because of the steep roof's shape. The tiny picture-perfect symmetry of contemporary cape cod home plans has been transformed into lovely, multipurpose areas that are much more economical and energy-efficient.

  3. History of cape cod house style In the 1600s, Puritan colonists brought the Cape Cod architectural style to America. These modest dwellings shared common features and were constructed of local materials. They were essentially fashioned after the half-timbered thatched English cottages from the 17th century. In the middle of the nineteenth century, Cape Cod-style houses spread throughout New England because they were cheaper to heat and sturdy enough to withstand heavy snowfall. These homes have a parlour, a hall, and two rooms. The parlour was utilised as the bedroom, while everyday living activities were concentrated on the threshold. To save heat, the majority had low ceilings and were made of wood. More bedrooms were added on the second level of Cape Cod homes as their sizes grew, and dormer windows protruded from the roof. These somewhat unostentatious dwellings were made more appealing by white picket fences, moulding with trim elements around the front door, windows, and under the eaves beneath the roof. The hopes of returning troops who wanted to purchase their first houses were realised after World War II when Cape Cod-style homes became a feature of housing development projects.
