  3. Aboakyir Festival • Celebrated in May of every year. • In 2006 it took place on the 6th of May. • Celebrated by the people of Simpa or Winneba in Central Ghana.

  4. Why is it Celebrated? • The migration of the Simpa and Winneba people from the western Sudan empire to Ghana.

  5. The migration was led by two brothers and a God named Otu. • Otu demanded offerings. • One young member of the royal family a year. • A member of the wild cat family that was to be beheaded in front of him. • A Bush Buck

  6. Panafest • To bring to light the truth about African history threw art and culture. • Enhance development • Promote unity in the continent of the continent.

  7. There is a forum that promotes unity A slave march reenactment A midnight vigil Musical and dramatic performances What happens at the festival?

  8. Diafarabe Cattle Crossing • Held every December • Herders bring their cattle to the rivers of Diafarabe to graze. • On the other side of the river families are reunited for a couple days.

  9. Promenade des Jeunes • Unmarried men and women dress up in order to attract each other.

  10. Competitions • They judge the fattest cow. • The winner will receive a useful prize.
