  3. Sargon the great ruled the Akkadian Empire for 56 years. • After his death the Empire lasted more than 200 years. • Sargon was one of the first powerful rulers to keep a standing army. • Sargon built the world’s first empire. Akkadian Empire

  4. The most important innovation for the Babylonian people was their centralized government. • The Code of Hammurabi consisted of 282 laws. • Hammurabi was the king. • Hammurabi introduced the idea of equal justice. Babylonian Empire

  5. Kassites tried to take over Babylon, but were not successful. • Hittites came into Babylon on their chariots and stole their treasures. • Kassites finally took over Babylon after the Hittites weakened them. • Hittites created the chariots. Kassites/Hittites

  6. They took the idea of the chariots from the Hittites. • The first to make a lance. • The king was Sennacherib. • They ruled the largest empire at that time. Assyrian Empire

  7. Nebuchadnezzar’s son, AwilMarduk was king after him. • Nebuchadnezzar was known for his great building projects. • Nebuchadnezzar made the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. • After AwilMarduk, Nabonidus was king and he kept his empire strong. Neo Babylonian Empire

  8. All ancient Mesopotamia had innovations . I think it was cool that some innovations are still used today. Some of the innovations used today are; a writing system, laws, keys and locks, a taxation system, and division of labor, etc. I built a ziggurat to help me learn more about ancient Mesopotamia.
