  6. Investigating Where you Are So You Can Plan Where You Want to Go! Read each of the indicators under each standard and check the one response that indicates the current status of your service-learning initiative. • Select “Weak” if the area or indicator is not in place or there are conditions that work against it. This is where you encounter “Barriers”. • Select “Needs Work” if the area or element is in place, but needs improvement for effective practice. • Select “Strength” if you think the area or element is in place and operating at a highly effective level. This is where “Assets” contribute to your initiative.

  7. As you finish, please use a marker to record your responses with an X in the appropriate box of the group assessment.

Identifying strengths and areas for improvement • Based on your responses to Part I. what are the top 3 strengths of your service learning practice? • Based on your responses to Part I. what are the top 3 areas for improvement? • Do your strengths lie within the same standard? If yes, which one? • Do your areas for improvement lie within the same standard? If yes, which one? Please share your responses with others in your program. Where there any major differences?

  9. 3 strengths of your service learning practice • WHO? Who are you? What is the name of your program? Who are the key people that lead your initiative? What is your website? Email? Contact info? • WHAT? What resources do you recommend to others to help them develop strengths in this area? Include websites, articles, books, videos, etc • WHERE? Where did you go to learn more? Are there online resources? Local/state trainings/conferences? On a piece of chart paper identify each indicator or a standard that is a strength. Then list:
