  1. Review ROYAL FLAIR - RAZOR XT Irrespective of how steep the climb is or how many ups and down there are, the Royal Flair Razor XT tackles the track well, ascending with ease. This is exactly what an off-road van is expected to do but the Royal Flair’s thoughtfully designed Razor XT, is an agile and comfortable off-grid tour The body of this offroader is just 16-foot 1-inch in length and comes at a cost of around $68,400 plus on-roads. www.offroadcaravans.com

  2. Review ROYAL FLAIR - RAZOR XT Exterior: The Supagal chassis system has the latest AL-KO Enduro Outback independent suspension system, and the twelve-inch electric brakes and the 245 x 16-inch off-road tyres are key to the van running smoothly. The A-frame of this offroader has a protected tap bolted to it, to which is attached a tool-come-storage box and generator cum dual jerry-can holder slide out. There are two 9kg gas bottles which can be used for the external slide-out kitchen and the stove inside. Apart from these, the A- frame kit also has an eight-inch jockey wheel and a cable handbrake. The Razor XT has composite walls and a composite floor, with checker plates interesting decals accentuating the visual appeal of the caravan. The double glazed windows, hatches and even the door are black trimmed, with the awning mirroring this theme. www.offroadcaravans.com

  3. Review ROYAL FLAIR - RAZOR XT Slide out kitchen: There are three gas burners in this stainless steel kitchen, with a small working space and a sink, a drawer and even cutlery divider and space for kitchen utensils. There is a picnic table and external speakers for entertainment outdoors, while an external shower can be used to wash up after a tryst with swimming or fun at the beach. There has been a lot of planning that has gone into designing the interiors of this caravan, maximising the space inside by accommodating multiple lockers to increase storage space. Electricals: There are two 150W solar panels that include aa 30-amp controller feeding and the two 105-amp hour batteries places within the van. This means that you can survive for longer periods without access to a 240 V source. Of course the solar panels cannot be solely depended upon, they work best along with the Genius battery management system. There is a reverse-cycle Air conditioner and a LPDA swivel aerial that are also present on the roof of the caravan, one for better cooling and the other for better TV reception. Over all this XT has a cool body with ample storage and loads of good features. Interiors There is a rear-mounted step which is at the back of the axle and which can be used to enter the kitchen that runs across the back wall till the wall of the ensuite. Cooking inside a caravan can be a nightmare if it is not done with a little bit of planning, after all, the smell could remain in the van for hours! Not in this caravan, a stainless steel rangehood removes all the smells, while lights that are mounted at the bottom of cupboards above the range make cooking fun. www.offroadcaravans.com

  4. Review ROYAL FLAIR - RAZOR XT Ensuite: The Ensuite is at the back wall on the driver’s side, with a bathroom unit to store toiletries, and a shower behind a glass door. There is a 184-litre two-door fridge with more storage drawers next to it and a TV mounted on a wall. A dinette is placed opposite the fridge that has storage drawers above and below it. Bedroom: There is a queen sized bed at the front of the caravan, with storage space in the form of overhead cupboards, wardrobes built on either side, and under the bed. Verdict: The Razor Xt is a comfortable offroader that has plenty of storage space, letting you take more for a rough road adventure. www.offroadcaravans.com
