  1. 9 Essential Checks You Must Do Before Storing Your Caravan A caravan adventure is a lot of fun, however, when the holiday comes to a close, the issue of safe storage for your caravan will rise up. Your caravan will be reminis- cent of the surplus memories that you gained while on a holiday, so for these reasons, and for the considerable amount you have invested in it (!), you will have to find a suitable place to store your caravan. www.offroadcaravans.com https://offroadcaravan.wordpress.com/2019/06/29/9-essential-checks-you-must-do-before-storing-your-caravan/

  2. There are some checks that you need to carry out before you put your caravan away in a storage facility. Here they are: 1.Look for cracks: Start with checking the undercarriage of the caravan and look for any cracks or any damages that may be present. If your adventure has taken you offroad, then this is a good place to start looking for some signs of wear and tear. 2.Check the tyres: The tyres would have taken a lot of load and would have to be checked as well. You may have to grease certain parts of the tyres and there could be ingress of dust. 3.Gas bottles: The next step would be to check the gas bottles. Try and identify if there are any damages caused due to rust and if there is anything to be repaired before your next adventure. 4.Check the exterior of the van: Look around the van to find out if anything else needs to be repaired, especially the awning. There may be cracks or tears that could have occurred when you opened it out during your holiday. This is something that you would have to set right. Sometimes, you may have damaged the awning when you were rolling it back into place. Nevertheless, it is always a better bet to check it out thoroughly and to set right all faults before you set off on your next adventure. This way, you ensure that the life of your awning is long, and at the same time, avoid any embarrassment that could occur when you open a torn awning on your next trip! 5.Check all the appliances: The cooking range, the TV, the TV’s antenna, the air-condi- tioner, and every other appliance or electronic equipment in the caravan should be checked and cleaned thoroughly. You may have noticed that something was amiss when you were traveling, however, you need to attend to it before your store the caravan. This way, there are no disappointments when you are in the midst of another holiday. www.offroadcaravans.com https://offroadcaravan.wordpress.com/2019/06/29/9-essential-checks-you-must-do-before-storing-your-caravan/

  3. 6.Leftover food or food spills: Leftover food or food spills should also be thoroughly checked as food can attract germs and leave a very bad odor. This is something that you would not look forward to when you open your caravan after a period of storage. The fridge should be wiped clean and the door left open. Make sure that there are no perish- ables in any of the cupboards. 7.Clean out the beds: This is another part of the caravan that needs a lot of attention. Accidental spills or even tiny pieces of food could attract bugs and leave a moldy smell. The best thing to do would be to dust out the beds and put fresh sheets on them. 8.Keep the water tanks clean: The water tanks should be flushed out with nice clean water and then fill them up fully with water. Make sure that there is no gap in the water tank, this will make sure that there is no mold growth. 9.Onboard batteries: The onboard batteries that are normally charged by the solar panels should now be stored in a cupboard or indoors. The batteries should not stay connected as there could be a small trickle of charge that could affect its life. Once you have checked your caravan for any sign of damage, the next step would be to identify a yard where you could leave it. You can scout around for a commercial yard and weigh the advantages before you decide which one you want to go with. Most summer yards may be booked well ahead so you need to plan accordingly. It is important to find a place that will store your caravan till the next time you decide to take it out for another exciting holiday! www.offroadcaravans.com https://offroadcaravan.wordpress.com/2019/06/29/9-essential-checks-you-must-do-before-storing-your-caravan/
